FAWQC Environmental Education (E2) Fund

What is the FAWQC E2 Fund?
The FAWQC E2 Fund was established to promote environmental education. FAWQC awards grants for environmental projects at Florida schools, civic or community organizations and awards prizes at Florida science fairs. Funding for E2 Fund grants and science fair awards originate from donations and FAWQC event proceeds. If you would like to donate to the FAWQC E2 Fund by check or credit card, CLICK HERE TO DONATE

What is an E2 Fund Grant?
The E2 Fund Grant is awarded annually to a school, a civic or community organization in the State of Florida. The award is based on the proposed project’s overall environmental value as to:

  1. Fostering awareness and understanding of a water related issue;
  2. Being cost effective;
  3. Basing the project on sound science principles;
  4. Promoting involvement of students or citizens; and,
  5. Promoting enhancement of a water resource or associated habitat.

Who can apply for an E2 Grant?
Schools, civic or community organizations may apply for an E2 Grant. A lead project contact must be identified with each application.

What is the maximum Grant awarded per project?
In general, individual project budgets should not exceed $1,000. Smaller grant applications will be given higher priority, so that the Fund may support as many worthwhile initiatives as possible. However, exceptional outreach projects in excess of $1,000 may be considered from time to time. Please contact FAWQC (see below for contact info) prior to applying for a larger grant.

What is the deadline for applying for the E2 Grant?
The deadline for grant applications is October 1, 2012. FAWQC will meet over the summer to review grant applications and to select grant recipients so that funds can be distributed to the winners near the beginning of the new school year.

How do I apply for the Grant?
Fill out an online E2 Application or you can Download the application in PDF. If you complete a paper copy of the application, you must submit it to FAWQC and attach the Table of Costs for your project budget, the number and type of participants, and a typed proposal of 1,000 words or less describing the project. Your project proposal should address each of the above five numbered requirements.

Communication of funded project details during the FAWQC Annual Water Issues Conference is the primary mechanism for continued external financial support of the FAWQC E2 Fund. By submitting an application and accepting funding, the applicant is affirming agreement to provide a descriptive written report and a poster presentation of the project to FAWQC prior to the FAWQC Annual Conference in June of the following year. A limited number of grant recipients will be invited to present an oral report of the project during the June FAWQC Annual Conference in Naples, Florida. (Reimbursement of certain travel expenditures will be allowed, subject to arrangement and agreement in advance between FAWQC and the Grant recipient.)

If you have any questions or concerns about the application process or requirements, please contact Ms. Lovie Hudson at . lovie@pes-enviro.com
